The Council of Graduate Departments of Psychology (COGDOP) is a society constituted of Chairs and Heads of Departments of Psychology or other equivalent administrative units that are authorized to offer graduate degrees in psychology in institutions accredited by their regional accrediting association.

ANNUAL MEETING

COGDOP’s annual meeting is invaluable for learning solutions to problems and issues associated with managing a graduate department. Examples of workshop topics include budgeting, diversifying the profession, managing faculty and chair workload, recruitment and retention, faculty evaluation, research support. We learn from speakers who represent prominent national organization, government, higher education, and who have expertise in timely educational and leadership topics. Attendees regularly report that the annual meeting is a valuable experience that blends personal leadership development with networking and topical information.

COGDOP ELECTRONIC FORUM

To facilitate rapid (and lively) exchange of information, COGDOP maintains a listserv forum. Members use this forum to ask other department chairs and heads about such topics as faculty salaries, startup packages, departmental budgets, management of challenging faculty, factors to consider in designing a new building for the department, and university structures.

Responses to these queries often arrive within minutes. Only chairs and heads of departments that are members of COGDOP may subscribe.
